South Borbond Gram Unnayan Samity (SBGUS) is a voluntary organization registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and 12 AA of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The organization was established in 1994 with a vison to empower and welfare of the underprivileged and marginalized people of Hailakandi district. Since its beginning, the organization has focused on the needs of the vulnerable and marginalized sections of society. It has been active mainly in addressing the challenges and needs of senior citizens, women and victims of various types of addiction. In reaching out to these target beneficiaries, the organization has used extensive community organization activities along with institutional services. The organization has received its principal financial supports from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India and the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. SBGUS works with 27 nos. of dedicated staff at various levels and many volunteers coming from different strata of the society. At present South Borband Gram Unnayan Samity (SBGUS) is engaged itself in various community development projects, welfare projects and specially working with the Drug Abused section of the Society.
